If you are a specialist, simply meaning you specialize in one of the various aspects of private investigation then yes, it can be extremely well paid. Like any other career; the better you are at your job the higher you'll be paid. This requires how much time, and energy you are willing to put into yourself to reap the rewards of a well paying position as a private investigator.
